Leonardo L. Gonzales, Sr., best illustrates the man that sits at the helm of LG Productions. After all, that is how everybody calls him – Tatay
He established LG Productions 4 years ago, producing concerts and shows starring artists from the Philippines, most notably his daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Guinto who is married to his eldest son Leonardo, Jr. He is known in the industry to be one who has an eye for detail. More so, he is known to be someone who takes care of his artists’ needs. You know, more like a father. A Tatay.
In October of 2003, flyers for open call auditions for a TV show began circulating in Chicago. Tatay, along with Gerry Rebello, Don Tagala and Dave Tiu began work on a project that would revolutionize the FilAm TV scene. Tatay established the first and only Filipino-American musical variety show in the United States’ Midwest. Hataw Pinoy Chicago was born!
The call for talents was a huge success! Filipino Americans with talents in hosting, singing, dancing and acting came forward to audition and lend their gift in entertainment to the very young production. The first episode aired over WOCH KBC Channel 28 on Sunday, November 30, 2003. The rest, as they say, is history. Or is it history still being made? Its vision is to see a more unified and empowered Filipino -American community through the promotion of Filipino - American talents in entertainment. It aims to utilize television and entertainment as a catalyst in the effort to unify and empower the Filipino – American community.
